Free Fuel Promotion for Legendary 100!

Fuel Incentive Announced for Drivers attending the Legendary 100 at Cedar Lake Speedway!

August 30, 2008

For Immediate Release.  New Richmond, WI.  Cedar Lake Speedway and Wilson Oil Company are pleased to announce FREE RACE FUEL for Super Stock, Modified, and Late Model competitors attending the Legendary 100 at Cedar Lake Speedway in 2008.   All drivers in attendance on Thursday, September 11th will receive a certificate at the pay window for FREE fuel that can be used on Friday or Saturday of the 100.  Late Models will receive 20 FREE gallons of methanol, Modifieds will receive 15 FREE gallons of methanol and Super Stocks will receive 5 FREE gallons of race gas.

“We are thrilled to partner with Wilson Oil on this promotion”, said Brad Both of Cedar Lake Speedway.  The Midwest Modifieds and Street Stocks race just one day for the largest purse around on Wednesday, September 10th.  However, the other three divisions are there for three days.  We wanted to find a way to support those three divisions as they offer a lot of racing to the fans with complete shows on both Thursday and Friday.   This promotion will help cover the costs of that racing and support the drivers that are supporting the 100 at Cedar Lake”.

As already announced, the Legendary 100 at Cedar Lake will again feature the best and biggest total purse in the nation on September 10th – 13th and a race format that fans have raved about over the past two years.  The 100 at Cedar Lake highlights complete shows each night featuring the best drivers in the Midwest.  The 2008 version of the Legendary 100 will again use qualifying features on Thursday and Friday to qualify the Lates, Mods & Supers for the big dance on Saturday night.  Compared to other shows in the area, this format gives drivers a chance to race each and every night.  “Who wants leave their car in the trailer one night or only race a heat one night?”, stated Chuck Kaufman of Cedar Lake.  “Our Legendary 100 allows drivers to compete in features each and every night which is what they want to do – not to watch like they will have to at other area events.  Better yet, our fuel promotion will allow them to race with FREE fuel.”

The legendary weekend kicks off Wednesday, September 10th with complete shows for street Stocks and Midwest Modifieds.  Wednesday night’s action will utilize passing points to set the field for the main event that evening.

Thursday night September 11th will feature complete shows for Super Stocks, Modifieds and Late Models.  First, drivers will run a heat determined by pill draw; second the 18 drivers with the most passing points will automatically transfer to that night’s qualifying feature. 19th thru 42nd in passing points will race a b-main with the top 6 finishers transferring to the nightly qualifying feature. Thursday’s qualifying features will be 25 laps for Late Models with 20 laps for Modifieds and Super Stocks.  The top 8 finishers will stack the inside row of Saturday’s Legendary feature.  Thursday night will also present a full show of 4-cylinders for their first appearance at the Legendary 100.

Friday September 12th will again feature complete shows for Supers, Modifieds & Late Models. The same format as Thursday night will be used however the top 8 finishers in the qualifying feature will stack the outside row of the Legendary feature.  Friday will also present a fill show of Pure Stocks as they return to the Legendary 100 after an entertaining show in 2007.

Saturday night September 13th boasts feature races only with B Mains in all three divisions to fill rows 9-11 of the Legendary feature.  Non qualifying drivers thru 8th place in the B Mains will run a Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) race with the top 2 drivers qualifying for the Legendary feature.  Throughout the weekend drivers who have not qualified for the Legendary feature on Thursday or Friday will use their accumulated passing points from their heats and qualifying features to determine their starting position in the B Main on Saturday.  The Legendary features will be 40 laps for Late Models with 30 laps for Super Stocks and Modifieds.

As an added bonus to all of the excitement the previous three days, Saturday’s program will also include the postponed Billy Anderson Memorial 360 Sprint Car Showdown.

“This event’s format has proven to provide the most non stop racing action over four days.  Drivers have up to four chances to make the big show!” commented Jamie Nutzmann, Cedar Lake’s race director.  “It is obvious we have hit the nail on the head with this format when other races a starting to mimic ours”.

Cedar Lake Speedway will use their track rules and will again allow Hoosier, American Racer, and Goodyear tires at the Legendary 100. This allows every local racer the opportunity to race at Cedar Lake Speedway without any major changes to the car.  Cedar Lake’s rules are easily found at www.cedarlakespeedway.com

The Legendary 100 tire rule:

Late Models: Goodyear G50, Hoosier WRS2-55 or American Racer MD56 spec tire.  Grooving and siping is allowed on all brands.

Modifieds: Goodyear G60, Hoosier E-Mod H40 or American Racer G60.              Grooving and siping is allowed on all three brands however the outer most groove is the only groove that may be touched on the Hoosier.

Super Stocks: Goodyear G60 or Hoosier E-Mod H40. Grooving and siping is allowed on both brands.

Midwest Mods: 8” Goodyear G60 or Hoosier E-Mod H40.  Grooving & siping is allowed on both brands.

Street Stocks: 8” Goodyear G60 or Hoosier E-Mod H40.  Grooving & siping is allowed on both brands.

2008 has marked many great changes to the speedway including the change to NASCAR sanctioned weekly events.  This change has brought a sense of professionalism to the program as well as a marketing tool to help lure new fans and drivers to our track.  Throughout the weekend our loyal racers will continue to earn needed points to help with National and State point chases.  They will also use the Legendary weekend as their last chance to pin down their finishing positions in the track’s point standings which is expected to pay over $25,000!   Competitors that do not already have a NASCAR license do NOT need one to race at the Legendary 100.

As always, don’t forget about the legendary party in the pits on Thursday and Friday and camping fun all 4 days!  A DJ will be present on Thursday and live music will highlight Friday’s party as the band “Kick the Dog” will be at Cedar Lake Speedway entertaining fans.  Cedar Lake recently added nearly 200 more campsites east of the track adjacent to the Amsoil Sandbox Arena.  Those convenient new sites are in high demand and all sites are going fast. Call today to reserve your site – they are only $30 for all 4 days! For advanced tickets or reserved camping, visit www.cedarlakespeedway.com or call 612-363-0479.
