(March 15th 2013 – New Richmond, WI) The 2013 Micro Meltdown kicked off at the newly re-opened Cedar Lake Arena and saw Lakefield, Minnesota’s Skylar Prohaska win a thrilling winged micro sprint feature event and Indiana’s Russell Disinger capping off the non winged portion of the event with a trip to Cedar Lake Arena victory lane.

Russell Disinger and Shane Fick started on the front row of the 25 lap non winged main event with Disinger taking control at the start and holding off several very serious challenges from Wade Huisman as Huisman made bid after bid to take over top spot, but Disinger held strong and retained the lead throughout.

Disinger withstood a lap 6 and lap 14 caution period, which allowed Huisman to challenge on each restart. As the duo raced for the lead on lap 18, Huisman dove inside of Disinger and the pair raced into turn one and contact was made, sending both drivers spinning. Huisman was ruled at fault and sent to the tail and Disinger was reinstated to the top spot. As racing resumed, Disinger paced the field the rest of the way to hold off Chris Cochran and Shane Fick for the win.

Chris Cochran and Skylar Prohaska redrew the front row for the 25 lap winged feature with Cochran taking command at the drop of the green and leading the first two laps before the first caution blinked on. Prohaska settled into second as the field roared back to life on lap three and the top two battled hard for the top spot until two more cautions flew on lap 6 and 9, keeping the field bunched tight.

Racing kicked back off on lap 9 and great battled ensued throughout the field, but the best battle was for the lead as Prohaska pulled a move on Cochran on the restart and stole the lead, which he quickly stretched out to a sizeable lead as the race ran green for the next 8 laps. Prohaska was strong out front and held Cochran and Russell Disinger at bay down the stretch and survived a green-white-checkered dash to pick up the win.

Racing resumes at the Cedar Lake Arena on Saturday, March 16th with both the non wing Micro Sprints and the winged Micro Sprints back in action along with the addition of the 600 Modifieds. Racing will begin at 5:00pm. Check out www.cedarlakespeedway.com  for more information.
