On Friday night, July 4th, there will be fireworks in the sky and on the track as Wildman Clay Gallagher and others will have you on the edge of your seat entertaining you with death-defying stunts and fun races that will have you rolling in your seat with laughter.  The night will be topped off with fireworks to celebrate the 4th.
 

Schedule of Events:

  1. Guinness World Record attempt to jump a car through 3 motorhomes.  This stunt has never been attempted before!
  2. Crane Drop.  Watch a car get dropped from 150 ft. in the air with Wildman Clay Gallagher inside!
  3. Bus Jump.  Ever seen a bus jump over 6 cars?  Wildman Clay Gallagher is going to give it a try!
  4. Rollover Contest.  The driver who rolls his/her car over the most times wins.  Extra points for having a fire and being able to drive the car away.  A fan favorite!
  5. Fire box with Explosion.  The Wildman will strap himself on the hood of a car and be driven through a huge box of fire with an explosion for extra excitement!
  6. Auto Football.  Ever heard of it?  You won’t believe it!  The Green Bay Packers vs. the Minnesota Vikings.
  7. The Blow up Race.  How long will it take a car to blow up racing around the track with no oil or water in it?  It will sure be fun to find out.  Last car running wins!
  8. Trailer Races.  The last event of the night will be the world-famous trailer races.  Cars, vans and pickup trucks will race with boats and campers trailered behind them.   

We will end the night with fireworks to celebrate the 4th of July (Note: CLS's annual BIG fireworks show is scheduled for Saturday, June 28th). 
 

There will be other events and surprises in addition to the already listed jam-packed night of thrills and spills.  The grandstands will open at 5:00 with action scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.



Cedar Lake Speedway Trailer Race – Friday, July 4, 2008

 

Cedar Lake wants to put YOU in the driver’s seat!  The speedway is raffling off a chance to drive a race-ready car and trailer on Friday, July 4th.  Only 100 chances will be sold and each chance is $5.00 or 3 for $10.00.  Entry forms are available at the track.  Winners will be announced Saturday, June 28th.  Need not be present to win.

 

Trailer Race Rules:

  1. Any full-size car, small van or pickup truck is eligible.  No 4-wheel drives!  Shoulder and lap belt required. Helmet, long sleeve shirts and pants and gloves are mandatory.  Fire suit and gloves recommended.  All glass (except front windshield), lights and mirrors must be removed.
  2. Overall trailer length: 14 ft. minimum and 20 ft. maximum.  Trailer cannot be rigged to self-destruct, leaving only frame to continue racing and must be able to race without falling apart.  If trailer is rigged, that driver will be disqualified.
  3. Travel trailer/pop-up camper, boat or whatever on a trailer is eligible.
  4. Boats must be strapped to trailer.  Boats must be gutted.  No motors, fuel tanks or out drives allowed.
  5. Travel trailer/campers must be completely cleaned out inside, removing everything that is not part of unit (i.e., pots/pans, clothes, silverware, trash, household items or anything that is not a permanent part of trailer as manufactured.  Pop-ups must be raced in fully extended/popped up position.
  6. All appliances and heating/cooling units must be removed.
  7. Glass must be removed.
  8. Tongue must be attached to tow vehicle by hitch and ball, free pivoting.  Safety chains and equalizer bars are not allowed.
  9. Ballast or weight cannot be added.
  10. Mascots, decorating vehicles, advertising nicknames, cartoons, etc. are encouraged.  No suggestive language, symbols or numbers allowed on vehicles.  Anything on the vehicle in bad taste will mean disqualification.

 

Object of Race:

Finish race with your trailer attached while trying to separate the trailers of your competitors from their two vehicle.  If you lose your trailer, you will be disqualified and you will be black-flagged.  If you hit another tow vehicle with your vehicle, you will be disqualified immediately.  Length of race is at least 10 laps unless only one trailer/tow vehicle combo remains intact.  In that event, they will be declared the winner.

Cedar Lake Speedway BLOW-UP Race July 4th

The object of this race is to be the last vehicle running.  Cars, trucks & vans are welcome to participate.  All radiator hoses, oil filter & oil pan plug must be removed from the vehicle.  Participants must wear helmet, pants, long shirts and boots.  Truly a showdown of manufacturers.
