2016 Season Schedule is the best ever!

Cedar Lake Speedway is excited to announce a fabulous 2016 schedule as the season will bring a ton of awesome events.  First, for the 9th consecutive year Cedar Lake Speedway will again bring short track NASCAR racing to the area.  After a successful inaugural year in 2015, CLS will again present the NASCAR DASH where Late Models, Modifieds, Pro Stocks, and Midwest Modififieds will race just 6 events (2 in June, 2 in July, 2 in August) competing for over $150,000 in prize money.  Next, CLS is excited to present the 2nd Annual Sprint Car Showdown featuring a two-day World of Outlaw Sprint Car race as the Winged Warriors invade the legendary Cedar Lake Speedway on Friday, July 8th and Saturday, July 9th.  Adding UMSS 360 Sprints and Traditional sprint cars on both days make this one weekend open wheel fans won’t want to miss by camping and enjoying some awesome racing.  Finally, in addition to continuing the tradition of huge special events, CLS has added UMSS Traditional Sprint Cars to its weekly racing joining Late Models, Modifieds, Pro Stocks, and Midwest Modifieds all summer long.    

 

The 2016 season will kick off on Thursday, April 7th with open practice for drivers looking to get a few laps in before a double-header Friday and Saturday featuring Late Models, Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Mid-Mods & Traditional Sprint Cars.  Complete racing programs for all 5 classes is on tap the next three Saturdays.  Cedar Lake’s first sprint car special event on May 7th features the UMSS 360 Sprints along with Late Models, Modifieds, and Pro Stocks.  The very next weekend is one of the track’s most exciting nights, School Bus Race Night.  This event has grown into one of the area’s must see events as local high schools support their bus as they battle other area schools for the title of fastest bus around.  This unique racing experience has full sized buses decorated in each school’s colors racing full speed around the track.  Fans can expect a little banging & bashing, a few rollovers and some great racing that night with Midwest Modifieds, Traditional Sprint Cars & Vintage race cars.  A full night of racing on May 21st is also the rain date for the school bus race.  Looking for a cheap date?  Then don’t forget to make it to the track on Saturday May 28th as grandstand admission is totally FREE!  Help us pack the track by bringing your friends, family & co-workers out for a night of racing.  Pack the track night is a great opportunity to introduce someone new to our sport and it won’t cost you a dime to get in.

 

June kicks off in full gear on June 4th with the 5th annual Triple Crown with a huge purse.  The event will again feature the IRA Outlaw 410 Sprint Cars along with Late Models & Modifieds each racing for $3,000 to win!  Fans can expect the absolute best local racing talent in the area to compete for a share of the huge purse on the high banks.  Then, the 2nd Annual NASCAR DASH will present its first event on Saturday, June 11th.  Late Models, Modifieds, Pro Stocks, and Midwest Modifieds will start their 6 race series with huge money on the line.  The weekly purse for the NASCAR DASH events has been raised and the point fund is the largest in the area.  The very next weekend (June 16th – 18th) brings the 18th annual Masters event.  It will again be the kickoff weekend for the UMP SummerNationals Hell Tour featuring the only multi-day event at one track on the tour.  The Masters brings the Eric Herbison Memorial on Thursday, June 16th paying both Pro Stocks and Midwest Modifieds $2,000 to win.  Friday and Saturday brings complete shows each night of UMP Late Models and USMTS Modifieds.  This event has become a must-see event with complete shows each night of some of the best drivers in the country.  Race #2 of the NASCAR DASH follows on June 25th. 

 

July starts with a bang with our HUGE annual firework display and a complete program of Modifieds, Pro Stocks, MW Modifieds, and Traditional Sprint Cars on Saturday July 2nd.  Do not miss our fireworks as they rival most community displays.  For the second year in a row, July 8th and 9th is an open wheel fan’s dream as the World of Outlaw Sprint Cars come to Cedar Lake for a 2 day event on Friday and Saturday.  Each day showcases a complete raced program as well as UMSS 360 sprint cars and Traditional Sprint Cars racing both nights.  The next two weekends in July will bring additional excitement as the NASCAR DASH heats up with races #3 and #4 on July 16th and 23rd.  The points on the line for each race increase so drivers will surely be stepping up the adrenaline and putting on some awesome racing.  July wraps up with the 8th Annual Night of Destruction bringing a ton of stunts and special events.  Further, Kids will get in completely FREE on this night!  Vintage Cars, Pro Stocks and Traditional Sprint Cars will round out the exciting event on July 30th.

 

The 29th USA Nationals comes next as we welcome back the nation’s best Late Model drivers for another 3 days of action.  Cedar Lake Speedway is proud to host the World of Outlaw Late Models series crown jewel event again in 2016.  Thursday, August 4th includes a complete show of World of Outlaw Late Models as well as Midwest Modifieds.  Friday August 5th features World of Outlaw Late Model qualifying, heats & dash along with a complete show of local Late Models.  The final night, Saturday August 6th includes consolation races, last chance races, and the 100 lap $50,000 to win main event along with another complete program for local late models.

 

August 13th and 20th present the final two NASCAR DASH events as we crown champions of this exciting series.  The last race will pay more than twice the number of points as the first race so expect a ton of excitement at these final two races as huge point fund money is on the line.

 

The last Saturday in August will again honor the founders of Cedar Lake Speedway (Elmer and Lorainne Cook) as well as our great fans, sponsors, and competitors as we provide free Corn on the cob to all attendees.

 

As the year winds down September includes the 16th Annual Jerry Richert Memorial race on Saturday, September 10th celebrating the life & legacy of Hall of Fame Sprint Car driver Jerry Richert featuring IRA 410 Sprint Cars, UMSS 360 Sprints, and Traditional sprint cars.  The final multi-day event begins Thursday, September 14th as Cedar Lake Speedway presents the 11th annual Legendary 100.  This three day event is all about racing, tons of cars, several races and a monster purse.  The final race event of 2016 will be the $10,000 to-win enduro scheduled for Saturday, September 24th.

For those who purchased camping, ramp, or reserved seats for the 2015 Inaugural Sprint Car Showdown, you can renew you same site or seats for the 2016 World of Outlaw Sprint Car event on July 8th and 9th by calling 612-363-0479 prior to January 1.  On January 3rd, tickets and camping will be opened up to all guests.
